Bardia National Park Wildlife Safari in the west of Nepal is so cool, because is more remote, not so crowded and much less popular then safari in Chitwan National Park.
Wildlife Safari, rafting, jungle treks, bird watching, elephants, tigers you name it. All that you can find in Bardia National Park Wildlife Safari.
I crossed India/Nepal border in Banbasa and met two guys by the checkpoint. After meeting Joe and Mike, later by the bus Karo showed up and we all decided to travel together to Bardia National Park.
It was middle of September so still Monsoon time, so we decided just to stay two nights in the park. It was a perfect spot to have and idea about Terai plains and wildlife in the jungle in Nepal.
We chose bungalows not far from Thakurdwara village. Nice clean bungalows with decent kitchen staff and many packages and tour options. You can expect geckos and lots of insects, well it’s a jungle…
If you stay in National Park you pay each day staying there, so sometimes people sleep outside the Park to save some money. We stayed only two nights so we chose park overnight option.
Wildlife Rafting Safari
Wildlife Safari was your choice. Early in the morning your guides take us by the river bank to pump a pontoon and start our Karnali river Bardia National Park Wildlife Safari.
Till lunch we raft down the river spotting lots of all kinds of birds, mostly Kingfisher, some predator birds and a few monkeys. It was so cool to see these animals in their natural habitat.
We even managed to spot a Rhino!
Walking through the park we saw elephant and tiger tracks. It was not a season for tiger safari, but I think its better that we didn’t meet a tiger walking through a jungle… To see a tiger in wild is nearly as difficult as seeing a leopard in safari in Africa.
After a few hours on water our guides took us into a jungle. We hand a short jungle trek with a small leach attack episode. For the record leaches were much worse in our ABC TREK.
Next day we went to the village and tried to get some transport to Pokhara. People were so nice and friendly to us it was a pity to leave this village. Mike was even so stunned by one girl that was ready to stay in this village…
