Dracula Castle in Bran is one of the most beautiful medieval castles in Romania. Was it really Dracula’s home?
Dracula Castle was built in 14th century in Bran not far from Brasov, between Transylvania and Wallachia.
Once a fortress, Dracula Castle in Bran is now a museum. Habsburg descendants own the place and let it for the public.
You can enjoy castle’s interior because of Queen Maria, who used to live here and collected quite a few very nice art and furniture exhibits.
Whole castle is well restored therefore so nice to visit.
Count Dracula
Bram Stocker an Irish author created in 19th century horror novel “Dracula”. Main character illedgedly lived in this castle.
Count Dracula was a fiction character probably inspired by Wallachian Prince Vlad III the Impaler. Real Dracula in fact lived in Poenari Castle in Fagaras Mountains.
Dracula from the novel lived in Bran Castle.
Hollywood also know Dacula’s legend, and made quite a number of films about famous DRACULA.
History mixed with novel fiction works like a magnet and attracts many tourists each year to Bran.
In Transilvania trip, Bran is not another castle. If you have some time to stop on a way from Brasov or Rasnov just do it.
