Beautifully located about 30km south from Cracow, with its rich history, castle ruins on top of the hill, beautiful nature, architecture and art everywhere Lanckorona is a perfect place for a weekend trip.
Time seems to slow down here, so if you want to run from city chaos and noise this is a place.
It used to be a town for over six centuries. With two thousand inhabitants Lanckorona could have returned to being a town again. But why? Does it really need it?
Accomodation
There are many Villas, Guesthouses and Hotels to choose from. Here are my picks:
-
Willa Bajka – A Fairytale Villa
A hundred year old villa ran by very interesting people. Artur and Jola Trojanowscy bought it, renovated it and put soul into this place. Upper floor has 3 rooms and an apartment kitchen with spacious living room and a big terrace. Everything is so raw with lots of wood. You can fall in love with the interior.
We came on Saturday and villa was fully booked. If you can, stay also on Sunday night, as we did. It’s a bigger chance you’ll have whole floor only for you. The Villa link
The owners live here with their dogs downstairs. They also have their atelier in the villa, because they are artists themselves.
This is my favorite place. I felt like in a Fairytale since I walked in. So chill, relaxing, and this French music played from vinyl on a gramophone… Ahh

Lanckorona 310
Magical place with great hosts, and very good food mostly from vagetables from the garden prepared for common dinner . Lots of place in the house if you want to come with a bigger pack. No radio or TV.
By the house down in the garden there is a big barn. I visited them a few years back while being on photography workshops with my friends so we were using this space as a studio. They also run some yoga classes or theater workshops. Lanckorona 310 link
We spent really good time here. Worth it!
I heard so much of this place. About hunded years old, ran by Lorenz family since then. Bigger place also with its own climate and lots of history in it. Possible for wedding receptions. I loved the pool most.
Food
-
Cafe Arka
Cafe, restaurant and art gallery not far from main square. Everyone know this place…why? Good coffee, food and splendid atmosphere…
An old hut from outside- really well prospering modern cafe inside ran by people with feeling for it.
Many artistic events or festivals are on weekends so call first if they have free seats.
-
Verona restaurant
A place where you can get a really good pizza and some Polish food as well.
Lanckorona and around
-
Castle ruins
This castle used to defend Lanckorona from 14th till 18th Century. On top of the hill, a nice walk through the forest. Not much left but worth a hike.
-
Main square
Spacious square there a few festivals are organized in summer and winter- when Angels come to town…
