Tengboche is a small village in Khumbu region in Sagarmatha National Park, close to mount Everest.
Tengboche is located at 3,860 metres (12,670 ft) on the route of Everest Base Camp Trek.
Buddhist Tengboche Monastery is the heart of the village and a must see on the EBC trek.
Tengboche is an isoloated place high in the mountains. It takes 3-5 days of trekking from Lukla or one day from Namche Bazaar.
Usually only trekkers from EBC trek reach the village and suprisingly it’s a quite large numer of people.
That’s the magic of the highest mountain on Earth – mount Everest ( Sagarmatha– Nepali) and Chomolungma-Tibetan)
If you arrive early in afternoon it’s possible to attend a buddhist ceremony in the Monastery.
Be respectful not to interrupt monks in their prayers with taking flash pictures or beeing loud.
